Essential Functions:
- Assess needs and set goals for the educational program and building operations that work in conjunction with the goals of the district Supervise the operation of the buildings, grounds and school property for the health, safety and well being of pupils, teachers and patrons; reports major building and equipment needs to the superintendent
- Prepare and submit the building’s budgetary requests and monitors expenditures of funds
- Keep superintendent informed concerning all activities within the building, routine and unusual
- Responsible for planning and implementing school security and safety- fire drills, tornado drills etc.
- Conference with the superintendent regarding suspension with a recommendation for expulsion prior to such action being taken and submits written report of such action
- Establish guidelines for high standards of student conduct and the enforcement of discipline as necessary according to board policy, due process and the rights of students
- Evaluate appropriate curriculum, materials, supplies and texts in cooperation with staff and make recommendations for improvement to the superintendent
- Make classroom visits, periodically review lesson plans and conduct follow-up conferences with recommendations to the superintendent
- Develop rules, regulations and procedures for efficient building operations (student and staff handbooks etc.)
- Delegate authority to responsible personnel according to various needs including absence from the building
- Develop schedules and assignments for students and staff
- Develop and supervise the creation and implementation of the master schedule.
- Develop and update the program of study for review and approval on an annual basis.
- Responsible to evaluate and submit reports to the superintendent on all assigned personnel in accordance with board policy
- Act as liaison between school and community
- Establish and maintain favorable relations with parents, public, colleagues and students
- Consult with parents in cooperation with staff members on student concerns
- Work actively to maintain high staff morale within the building
- Conduct meetings for staff as necessary for proper functioning of school
- Attend meetings, events, activities and functions necessary and pertaining to the job as required
- Prepare, maintain and submit records as required by school law or request of the superintendent
- Serve as a role model for students on how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
- Respond to routine questions and requests in a timely, appropriate manner
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships
- Attend professional growth seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current on relevant issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee
